Overview

Columbus Communications Trinidad Limited is the largest, most technologically advanced entertainment provider in Trinidad, with a growing customer base presently in excess of 110, 000 subscribers, serviced by a team of 250 employees.

The local cable television industry has a history spanning back to 1992, with the advent of Cableview Limited, which provided cable TV service in the East-West Corridor, from San Juan to Woodbrook. Cableview was soon joined by three other local cable television providers: Rainbow Cable Vision Limited, AJ Cable Limited and Trans-Cable Company Limited, each servicing a specific geographic areas of Trinidad.

In 2000, all four companies merged to form Trinidad & Tobago Transcable Company Limited (CCTT), centralizing its varied resources and services; with one company servicing Trinidad. This also led to the installation of a fibre optic network throughout Trinidad which improved the quality and reliability of the analog cable TV service offering.

In 2005, Columbus Inc., an industry leader in broadband network construction and in the provision of telecommunications services in the Caribbean and Central America, acquired the assets of CCTT. This acquisition has led to a renewal of the cable TV industry with the formation of Columbus Communications Trinidad Limited (Columbus). Columbus was awarded a concession to provide triple play services in Trinidad & Tobago - cable television, high-speed data and Internet, and landline telephone services.

Over the next five years, the company will invest in excess of TT $1Billion to upgrade the current analog system to a digital broadband platform, which will facilitate the provision of triple play digital services. The first digital cable television customer in the country of Trinidad & Tobago was activated in July 2006.

In May 2006, ‘Flow’ was introduced to the market as the brand that umbrellas the ‘Watch. Talk. Click’ services offered by Columbus.

Flow offers attractive package options suited to all entertainment and budgeting preferences, backed by a professional team ready to assess customers’ requirements and recommend the most appropriate, customized solution.
