Flow has announced that effective April 1st, TEMPO will be removed from its basic line up on both the analog and digital systems and in its place the Company will launch a new local sports channel called “WI Sports”.

According to Rhea Yaw Ching – Director of Sales, Marketing and Communications at Flow, viewership data identified TEMPO as ranking very low among customers against other local and international channels with like programming and on overall ratings performance.

Ms. Yaw Ching indicated that Flow supports the local music industry as is evidenced by the fact that Synergy was first launched as a cable-only channel before securing an over-the air Concession.

Flow also carries numerous international music channels, including MTV, VH1, Centric, BET, as well as regional music networks Hype and RETV.

According to Ms. Yaw Ching, “five years ago we gave TEMPO the most preferential real estate possible - basic carriage - based on the anticipated content and response from our customers. We feel at this point that it is more important to support networks that have proven high viewership statistics and are of higher value to local viewers”.

WI Sports will be a Flow Channel dedicated to the promotion of local and regional sporting events and leagues, providing relevant and up to date information through various program formats ranging from news highlights to LIVE broadcast feeds of league games and matches.

Ms Yaw Ching continued “We believe that this channel will fill a critical void in local programming, and this launch supports Flow’s strategy of showcasing local culture and talent.”

Details on this channel will be forwarded in due course.
