Flow and TrinidadTunes.com have created history with Trinidad’s first anti-piracy campaign, launched in December 2008. To date, over 16,000 songs from 3canal’s Joy & Fire album have been downloaded by fans and music lovers. On Friday, TrinidadTunes.com was presented with a symbolic cheque in the sum of $105,000 by Flow’s President and Chief Operating Officer, John Reid, “We are truly pleased by the success of this initiative and recognize its significance.” He stated. “This is a positive milestone toward creating a culture that recognizes our local and regional artistes particularly in this new downloading culture. Flow will continue to facilitate development of the arts ensuring that the artistes are duly rewarded for their contribution.” The collaboration between Flow and TrinidadTunes.com encouraged the FREE LEGAL download of locally and regionally produced music. Visitors to www.trinidadtunes.com were able to legally download songs from 3canal’s album, Joy & Fire courtesy Flow. Flow subsidised the cost to ensure that the artistes would be compensated appropriately.
