Port of Spain, Thursday 26th July, 2011: Through the generosity of the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association (CCTA), Joshua Home for Boys is the recipient of a US$1,000 grant from the association’s 2011 Community Charities Program. Joshua Home for Boys was nominated for the grant by Columbus Communications Trinidad Limited (Flow), a member of the CCTA and the cable and telecommunications provider for Trinidad and Tobago.
Joshua Home for Boys was chosen as a grant recipient because of the outstanding service and assistance it provides to the community. The cheque for US$1,000 was presented to Sister Deborah de Rosia of the Home by Kisha Wilson, Flow’s Corporate Communications Manager, on the 20th July, 2011.
The CCTA’s Community Charities Program, established in 1993, has awarded more than US$253,000 to Caribbean charities during its existence. The program originally awarded only 10 grants per year, but interest in the program has grown substantially in the last 18 years. All 15 of the 2011 nominees were worthy organizations, so the association’s board of directors voted unanimously to award US$1,000 grants to all.
The 15 Community Charities Program grant recipients were nominated by the following cable and telecommunications operators: Bermuda CableVision; Choice Cable TV of Puerto Rico; Columbus Communications Inc. of the Bahamas; Columbus Communications Grenada; Columbus Communications Jamaica; Columbus Communications Trinidad; Innovative Cable TV St. Croix; Innovative Cable TV St. Thomas‐St. John; Liberty Cablevision of Puerto Rico; SAT Telecommunications of Dominica; St. Lucia Cablevision (LIME); St. Maarten Cable TV; SETAR of Aruba; The Cable of St. Kitts; and WestStar TV Limited of the Cayman Islands.
Formed in 1983, the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association represents cable and telecommunications providers throughout the Caribbean, and the programmers, software and hardware suppliers that support their operations.
